+++ Raw materials from organic farming +++
We use not only organic hemp, but also wild-growing hemp that grows and thrives entirely without herbicides and pesticides, is harvested by simple farmers and is also used as medicine for their livestock.
+++ Fair & Social
This product is manufactured by our Nepalese partner initiative, "Local Women's Handicrafts." Together, we are working on the further development of various products until they are ready for mass production. Our partner company is committed to the training of its workers, supports them in cases of family illness, and provides adequate childcare.
Himal Hemp's entire concept is based on fair and socially responsible value creation and aims to enable as many people as possible in Nepal to live a life of dignity through their own work. We document each step of the production process and work directly with the producers in a constructive dialogue. In Nepal, this direct and personal approach is currently the only way to produce under appropriate working conditions, pay fair wages, and simultaneously ensure high product quality.
+++ Recycled & Recyclable +++
This bag uses reused sari (traditional Nepalese women's clothing) for both the outer and inner layers – upcycling!
The old saris (traditional Nepalese women's clothing) are collected in the immediate neighborhood, then washed, cut and woven by hand into colorful fabrics on mechanical looms.
+++ Reduced-emission production +++
The main components of this product are organically grown hemp from Nepal and recycled traditional women's dresses. The twisting and weaving of the organic hemp and the recycled saris into new lengths of fabric is done meticulously by hand on mechanical looms by our partner company, "Local Women's Handicrafts".
+++ CO₂-saving +++
This product is largely manufactured in Nepal, from raw materials to finished product, and even in Nepal, as a rule, only a single delivery route is necessary: from the farmer or the former wearers of the clothing to our partner company.
+++ Resource-efficient +++
The hemp grows wild in Nepal and is processed directly in our partner company in Nepal, from twisting to the final product.
The lining and the colorful outer layer are made from reused traditional women's dresses (sari).
