We're adding coconut buttons to the shorts. The photos still show the old, non-vegan buttons with our logo – quality workmanship, but the raw material used back then, while upcycled, was of animal origin.

+++ Raw materials from organic farming +++

The cotton fabric is traded as organic in Kathmandu. However, these shorts are produced by a small family business that cannot afford to certify its production and therefore cannot, for example, use GOTS-certified raw materials. We are continuously working to replace non-organically produced or unverifiably certified raw materials in our products and place great importance on the fair production of our goods.

We work with various small and medium-sized businesses in Nepal that are committed to fair production, promoting women's rights, and/or supporting disadvantaged communities. These shorts are made in a small family-run business with whom we collaborate closely, working together on the designs.
Himal Hemp's entire concept is based on fair and socially responsible value creation and aims to enable as many people as possible in Nepal to live a life of dignity through their own work. We document each step of the production process and work directly with the producers in a constructive dialogue. In Nepal, this direct and personal approach is currently the only way to produce under appropriate working conditions, pay fair wages, and simultaneously ensure high product quality.
