Environmentally friendly printed products

Himal Hemp Verlag creates environmentally friendly printed products based on the conviction that content, material, and production belong together. Therefore, we combine ecological printing, sustainable materials, and socially relevant topics in every product.

Conscious printing – transparent trading

For us, environmentally friendly printing means consciously selecting materials, openly communicating production processes, and taking responsibility throughout the entire life cycle. Every printed product reflects a commitment – to a fair, ecological, and equitable future.

Eco-friendly Inks & Responsible Printing

  • Environmentally friendly paints

We exclusively use partner printers who use non-toxic, environmentally friendly inks. For our books and booklets, we collaborate with, among others, gugler* DruckSinn in Austria – a printing company with extensive expertise in ecologically and socially responsible printing.

  • Content with social significance

Our printed materials convey content on environmental awareness, sex education, body knowledge, gender equality, and social responsibility. They are intended to inform, stimulate thought, and spark conversations – not to consume, but to connect.

Sustainable papers & alternative raw materials

We don't use conventional paper for our printed products. Instead, depending on availability and application, we work with recycled paper, paper from sustainable forestry, and grass paper. These materials reduce water consumption, energy use, and the use of chemicals.

Even small details are part of our concept: some of the product tags on our goods from Nepal are made of handmade Lokta paper. This traditional paper is produced without deforestation and supports local craft structures.

Paper & Pulp

We rely on sustainable and innovative materials to combine the highest quality with environmental awareness. All our paper types unite sustainability, environmental consciousness and high-quality material properties – ideal for premium print products such as books, posters and cards.

  • Recycled paper

Made from recycled paper fibers, recycled paper reduces the need for virgin wood, saves water and energy, and reduces waste. Despite its environmental benefits, it retains its high-quality stability and feel.

  • Paper from sustainable forestry

This paper comes from forests managed according to strict ecological and social standards. It combines natural quality with responsible use of wood resources and supports the protection of biodiversity and ecosystems.

  • Grass paper

An innovative alternative where a large proportion of the fibers are derived from grass. Production is resource-efficient, requiring significantly less water and energy and reducing CO₂ emissions. Grass paper impresses with its natural appearance, strength, and distinctive feel.

Lokta Paper

Lokta paper is a unique, hand-scooped paper from Nepal, made from the bark of the lokta shrub.

The bark of the Lokta shrub regenerates quickly after harvesting, so the plant is not damaged. This makes production environmentally friendly and simultaneously supports local communities in Nepal who have practiced this traditional craft for generations.

Thanks to its stability, natural texture and unique appearance, Lokta paper is ideal for books, cards, covers and creative projects where sustainability and high-quality materials are paramount.
