FAIRLY PRODUCED IN NEPAL
The raw materials come from neighboring countries of Nepal (cotton from India, zippers from China). The sturdy fabric is woven in Nepal ("Nepali Cotton") and processed there into the finished product.

+++ Raw materials from organic farming +++

The cotton fabric is traded in Kathmandu and touted as organic. However, these wallets are manufactured by a relatively small company that cannot afford to certify its production and therefore cannot, for example, use GOTS-certified raw materials. We are continuously working to replace non-organically produced or unverifiably certified raw materials in our products and place great importance on the fair production of our products.

+++ Fair & Social +++

The company in Nepal is committed to the training of its workers, provides support in cases of family illness, and arranges childcare. Production in Nepal costs approximately one-fifth of the retail price in Europe, which must also cover export, import, sales, and tax costs.
Himal Hemp's entire concept is based on fair and socially responsible value creation and aims to enable as many people as possible in Nepal to live a life of dignity through their own work. While we are still too small to have our production certified at affordable costs, we document the entire production process and work directly with the workers. In Nepal, this direct and personal approach is currently the only way to produce under appropriate working conditions, pay fair wages, and ensure quality. Nevertheless, we are continuously working to improve working conditions there.
